US Delegation Confirmed for Nepal's Investment Summit

Kathmandu: The upcoming Investment Summit in Nepal, scheduled for April 28-29, will see the participation of a delegation from the US Chamber of Commerce, as confirmed by US Ambassador to Nepal, Dean Thompson.

In a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance on Monday, Ambassador Thompson informed Finance Minister Barshaman Pun about the US delegation's participation. During the discussion, various mutual interests were addressed, including the timely completion of projects in Nepal supported by the US.

The American envoy assured full support from their side to ensure the success of the Investment Summit, as reported by Minister Pun's Secretariat. Minister Pun also shared ongoing preparations to organize the summit efficiently, highlighting the efforts being made to create an investment-friendly environment through legal and procedural reforms.

Minister Pun expressed optimism about increased participation from American investors, citing the improving investment climate in Nepal. He mentioned progress in the process of rating Nepal's creditworthiness through international credit rating agency Fitch.

Furthermore, Minister Pun highlighted significant legislative advancements, including the endorsement of bills related to Anti Money Laundering and Business Environment Promotion by both Houses of Parliament. These bills, amending provisions of 19 different laws concerning money laundering, are currently awaiting authentication by the President.
